Samhain Ancestral Fire Walk

October 31, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

€70.00

CELTIC TRADITIONS OF SAMHAIN

In honor of the traditions of Celtic Ireland, Samhain was the dividing time between the lighter half of the year and the darker half of the year.  As a significant time of year, it marked the end of the Celtic year and the beginning of the new one.  It is also a time that the division between this world and the otherworld is at its thinnest, allowing for a clearer communication opportunity with the souls of our helpful ancestors.  The ancestors who know you, love you, and are helpful to you are honored and invited to play a more active role in protecting you and creating a healthy life with you, while other harmful spirits are warded off.

The bonfires were very important to the Celtics.  The fires were a way for the people to help the sun move across the sky during this period of darkness.  Traditionally, the household fires were extinguished and then started again from the burning embers of the bonfire. Food was prepared for the living and the dead as a way to honor them, their lives, and is offered in gratitude for the bounty that they continue to bless their descendants.

SAMHAIN ANCESTRAL FIRE WALK

A fire walk during this time is most powerful, not only to honor the Celtic traditions, but to use the fire to ignite the flame within each one of us.  The courage to face your fears, which often are held in the dark, and a walk through the firelight will empower you to keep that torch burning within, even in the darkest of times.

The land that we share for this event is a healing land, full of energy and spirit. To honor and respect the land and call forth its best for us, we always begin with an offering to the Faeries, placed within the Faerie Fort.  This can be in the form of organic fruit, flowers, or something meaningful to you, that you offer to them.

Once the fire is alight, there will be a guided journey to our ancestors, led by Daithi Dubh, to perhaps meet them for the first time, begin conscious relationships with them, or speak with them as long-time old friends.  We will also honor our ancestors by a piece of cloth (6″x 1″) that will be tied onto the All Souls Tree.

We will close the event around 10:00 pm.
