How A Shamanic Tribal Drum is Made

  1. Steaming wood to bend and make the rim out of a solid wood of either Maple, Oak or Ash trees.
  2. Cutting the skin to the size of the drum being made, and hand-cutting the lace from the rawhide.
  3. Soaking the skin and lace
  4. Engraving onto the inside rim, if a special inscription is requested by the customer.
  5. Wrapping the wet hide around the rim and lacing it to appropriate strength for the best resonance.
  6. Allow it to dry and add client requested extras such as hand-painted images, furs, feathers, leather, etc.
